    Spectacular Grade New Hampshire Rarity

New Hampshire August 24, 1775 L3 Gem New. Until this note was consigned, this cataloger had never seen an example of this issue anywhere near this quality. The margins are broad and even, and the left margin, which is intended to be cut in as an indent, is far wider than what is normally seen. The note is beautifully signed in two colors on bright paper and the piece even has all its original embossing. If this is not the single finest-known example of this issue, it cannot be possibly be worse than tied for it. The importance of this note in this grade cannot be overstated. It is listed (actually mislisted) in Friedberg at $800 in Very Fine with no higher grade, and in Newman at $600 at Very Fine in no higher grade. The Newman plate note is just a few serial numbers away from this piece. The margins are identical, and even the curve of the indent is a perfect match.
