    Description

State of the Massachusetts Bay - (Act of May 2, 1777) 6% Treasury Loan Certificate due June 1, 1780 22 Pounds April 25, 1778 Anderson-Smythe MA-8. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent.
A second MA-8 "Sword in Hand" bond with the iconic imagery. This is a beautiful, untrimmed bond with minimal faults. Printed from a Nathaniel Hurd plate on laid paper. 21.0 cm. by 23 cm. Style, vignettes and text as last. An embossed stamp is on the text portion. No. 713. Issued and signed by Jeffries, Davis, Sumner and Henry Gardner (pen cancelled). No interest endorsement is on the face or docket on the back. There are only some "Small Edge Splits" and a "Hinge Repair on Back" noted. Gorgeous, with bold paper embossing, and full size. Created by a sharp strike from the plate. Well above average for a type often with serious paper faults or harsh endorsements. An antique collector pedigree is penciled on the back bottom edge.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
