    Description

Massachusetts Treasury Certificate. Dated January 1, 1782 and payable two years later on January 1, 1784. This variety is listed as Anderson MA 31. It's in unusually nice shape for any early fiscal paper, with only a few extremely light folds and none of the normal edge problems. The note is signed by Thomas Dawes for the Committee, and by Alex Hodgdon as Treasurer. Anderson lists it as a low R 6, indicating 21 to 30 examples are known to have survived.
