    Very Scarce 3 Pence Denomination

Massachusetts October 18, 1776 3d PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
A really pretty example of this much scarcer first Codfish issue. You can count on one hand the number of 3 pence notes we have sold over the years. With the exception of this note all the others were sold between 2003-2008. PCGS notes there are small edge and internal splits and hinge repairs on back. The Midnight Ride example was PMG Fine 15 with splits and realized $253. The only Very Fines we have sold were a dozen years ago, and those two realized between $500-$750 each.
