    Description

Massachusetts October 16, 1778 9d PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
A well preserved piece with four broad margins, exceptional paper quality, and a bold signature. This note is tied with two others as the highest graded by the two major grading services. Part of the extreme popularity of this issue is because Paul Revere engraved the original plates and he also printed the faces. The pine tree on the back of this Codfish note is a cast cut with the backs being printed by Thomas Fleet.

    Estimate: $2,000 - up.
