    Description

Massachusetts October 16, 1778 2d PMG Very Good 10. Part of the extreme popularity of this issue is due to the fact that Paul Revere engraved the original plates, and also printed the face of the notes. The pine tree on the back is a cast cut, and the backs were printed by Thomas Fleet. Twelve different denominations were printed for this issue. Richard Cranch was the signer of this two pence example, one of only 8571 printed.
