Massachusetts October 16, 1778 2d, 8d, 4s6d Uncut Strip of Three Gem New. The face plate for these extremely popular Codfish notes was engraved by Paul Revere, who also printed the faces themselves. The backs were typeset and printed by Thomas Fleet. Newman does not list any of the denominations above the Extra Fine grade. This strip is one of a small group that turned up many years ago. Few strips from that group survived since they turned up, as most of the strips had been cut to supply individual notes for collectors. Unlike most of the others, the pine-tree back is boldly printed on this rare strip. Est. 4,000up
