Massachusetts June 20, 1744 1s PMG Net Good 4. Novice collectors and dealers alike bandy about the terms "scarce" and "rare" as if they truly understand what that means in regard to their hobby interests. This note, on the other hand, can be truly appreciated for its rarity by even the most unsophisticated market participant as they have likely never seen one, including any in our auctions as well. Very few of these ever surface and only when the most advanced and well preserved colonial currency collections are offered for sale. While PMG notes "Reconstruction, Pieces Missing" the note does remain primarily intact with the all-important emblems present in both the bottom corners. As previously stated, the opportunities to obtain any pre-1770's Massachusetts note are genuinely rare and when they do appear they virtually always bring a five figure price. This piece, which offers both rarity and history, served the early New England colony well traversing through the channels of commerce.
