    Small Sword-in-Hand 6 Shillings

Massachusetts June 18, 1776 6s PCGS Apparent Extremely Fine 45.
We have now offered just two examples of this rare note. In fact, that is exactly how it is valued in Friedberg, simply as "rare." Our current offering is in a much higher grade than our previous offering in January 2006. The current note is broadly margined on all four sides, with a sharply printed vignette. These small "Sword in Hand" notes are far rarer in our experience than the similar large vignette on the back pieces. The Apparent grade is for masked stains on the face and back.
