Massachusetts June 18, 1776 24s Contemporary Counterfeit PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.PMG has graded a genuine example at the 63 level and this counterfeit alone at the top as a 64. PCGS has not graded an Uncirculated example, either real or counterfeit. We have sold several counterfeits just below the grade of this piece, but all have been pen cancelled. This uncancelled note has a great look to it: it is very well margined with two strong forged signatures. These counterfeits were produced at the time by the British as a form of economic warfare. An important note at this grade level, particularly without the defacing pen cancels.
