    Description

    Massachusetts Feb. 5, 1780 £15 Fine-Very Fine Anderson MA-16.
This is a fourth class winning lottery example and it is listed in the William G. Anderson reference, The Price of Liberty, as MA-16. These were engraved by Nathaniel Heard and have the Pine Tree and Rattlesnake vignette at upper left. This "class the fourth" variety is the scarcest of the four certificates in this group. It is rated as a High R6, 13 - 20 known. Ink erosion is noticed especially at top center and in the Gardner signature. A piece of tissue paper has been affixed to the back with wax.

    Estimate: $350 - up.
