Massachusetts December 7, 1775 Contemporary Counterfeit 36s PCGS Apparent Very Fine 20.
One of the more deceptive contemporary counterfeits. It has the look of the genuine note that was printed by Paul Revere. The counterfeits are distinguished from the genuine only by minute differences in the engraving. The easiest difference to spot on the counterfeits is the straight vertical main masts on the ship vignette, as the masts slant to the right on the genuine pieces. This is a counterfeit that is highly desired. The Apparent grade is due to splits, repairs, and stains.
