Massachusetts August 18, 1775 12s PMG Fine 12. Getting a grip on a census with notes this rare is quite the challenge. Approaching five years in to third party grading, PMG has graded just this lone example, and PCGS has yet to release a Colonial census, but it's a safe assumption that their count is between zero and two. PMG mention "Splits", which are present but of little consequence. This is the first example that we've sold even though this is the "common" Sword in Hand issue. The new Newman value for this note in this grade is $3750, which is likely just about right.
