    Description

Massachusetts 1779 4s6d Choice Very Fine. This is a very nice, well printed example of the Rising Sun issue. The face plates were engraved by Paul Revere, and he also printed the faces of the notes. The backs used the same set type and cast cuts previously used on the Codfish issue, and were printed by Thomas Fleet. The margins on this note are tight, as is almost always the case, but they do not intrude into the design. The pine-tree back is beautifully centered and well printed. Quite scare and very popular.
