    Description

Commonwealth of Massachusetts November 22, 1782 £56 Treasury Tax Collector's Certificate PCGS Extremely Fine 40, Hole Punch Cancelled. This MA-38 Treasury Tax Collector's Certificate is listed as a R5 in Anderson, meaning an estimated 31 to 75 survivors. PCGS included mention that the certificate was hole punch cancelled. As mentioned in The Price of Liberty, there are known minor printing variations. In this case, the note reads "Treasury=Office" rather than the "Treasurer's=Office" illustrated in the book. Bold embossing is visible through the holder. A quick perusal of our records indicates we have offered only one of these certificates in all of our past auctions.
