    Massachusetts October 18, 1776 6d PCGS New 62.
A beautiful Codfish note that would grade higher were it not for some minor repairs to the lower left quadrant, which caused the Apparent grade. The work is extremely well done and challenging to see. The back of the note bears a pine tree, which is often weekly printed, but on this example it is clear and sharp. This 1776 Codfish Issue is far rarer in high grade than the 1778 issue. This is one of only three uncirculated notes for all the denominations combined by both services. We recently sold an AU 2d for $1,997 and a PCGS 45 Apparent for over $1,000. We also sold a PCGS 62PPQ in our 2014 FUN Auction for $4,112.
