    Description

    Massachusetts October 16, 1778 4d PMG Uncirculated 62.
An extremely well printed example of one of the most evocative of the New England Colonial notes, with its codfish vignette at the top of the face and a pine tree on the back. The face of this note was engraved and printed by Paul Revere. The plate was re-dated by Revere from October 18, 1776. The backs were printed by Thomas Fleet from cast cuts. This note is also well signed, well numbered, and unusually well margined, including the full selvage from the bottom of the sheet below the signature.
