    Description

Massachusetts October 16, 1778 12d PCGS Very Choice New 64.
A boldly printed, well-signed, problem-free example of this extremely popular Codfish issue. The face plates of this issue were engraved by Paul Revere, and the faces were printed by him. The backs of the issue utilized cast cuts, and they were printed in the shop of Thomas Fleet. Most examples are generally found low-grade and/or damaged, and many are also weakly printed. Not so this note, it is top-pop at both services combined. It is the only 64 with lone 63s below it at both services. We have sold one of those 63s in 2011 when it realized $1,150.
