    Massachusetts November 17, 1776 42s PMG Very Fine 25.
One of the rarest issues of Massachusetts notes and the first genuine piece we have ever been privileged to offer. Only 6,485 examples of this unusual denomination were printed by Paul Revere after he modified the plate by changing MAGNA CHARTA to INDEPENDANCE on the back. This specimen displays even wear with one faded, albeit clear, signature of Jonathan Woods. The printing is bold on both sides with some trivial staining noticed on the back. A similarly graded 14 Shilling note from this issue sold as part of the John J. Ford, Jr. collection in May 2005 for almost $7,500 with no sale records for this denomination noted in Eric Newman's reference. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a truly fantastic souvenir of early American history.
