Massachusetts May 5, 1780 $8 Canceled Bundle of 36. This bundle came to us in a group of like items totaling over 200 notes in all. This bundle is one of the highlights of the group. It's made up of 36 hole-canceled $8 notes, all of which were canceled at the same time, which can clearly be seen from both the placement of the hole cancel and the beveling of the edges. The canceled group was then tied with a piece of 18th-century homespun thread, which still remains around them. The notes range in grade from Very Fine to About New and everything in between, but with the majority of the notes at the upper end. The individual value of the notes is in the $60 range, but this bundle, canceled together and tied as it is, is a prize item to a serious Colonial collector, and could easily far exceed the value of the individual pieces. (Total: 36 notes)
