    Popular Sword-in-Hand Note

Massachusetts December 7, 1775 2s8d PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25. This is a rare and extremely popular issue, engraved and printed by Paul Revere. The note has minor restorations and edge tears, but in truthfulness, it is a superior note for the issue. The text is clear, as is the all-important Sword-in-Hand vignette on the back. Nice looking, genuine Sword-in-Hand notes are considerably underpriced when compared to the rest of the Colonial market. We have offered only three of this denomination since 2001. PCGS does not compile statistics on Colonial notes, but using PMG's figures as a guide, they have graded only two examples, a "10" and a "15."
