    Massachusetts December 7, 1775 2s 8d PCGS Apparent Very Good 10.
From the second "Sword In Hand" issue of December 7, 1775, around 6,250 of this denomination were earmarked for issue. This note has not led a sheltered life, with PMG noting edge damage, repaired tears, and, most importantly, the fact that the bottom half of the note is missing. This may have simply been due to wear and tear, but may also reflect the practice of cutting notes in halves or quarters to make change. In any case, it is what it is, and any sword in hand note is going to attract attention.
