Massachusetts Bay State Treasury Certificate December 1, 1777 Anderson MA-10 Very Fine.
A pleasing "Sword in Hand" bond engraved by Hurd. Printed from a Nathaniel Hurd plate on laid paper. At upper left, a rattlesnake frames a standing patriot holding a sword and with surrounding mottos. The left end is indented, as issued. Mixed font obligations are across with spaces for the date, serial number, denomination, issuee, and signatures. "Treasurer" is engraved. Signed by committee members and Henry Gardner (pen cancelled). Minor stains. Very pretty for this type.
