May 25, 1775 15 Shillings Revere Copperplate Note

Massachusetts Bay May 25, 1775 15 Shillings Fr. MA-145. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.
This note is part of a historic series of American paper currency. There was a twenty-five year break in issuing paper money in Massachusetts after 1750. In this time period, the Colonial Americans were becoming independent-minded, and more American than British. The appearance of Massachusetts currency evolved to reflect these nationalistic sentiments when Revere cut the copper plates for this issue, engraved with an "American Paper" indent at the left. This example, though Apparent (like most notes that have been third party graded), is evenly margined on all sides and shows half of the "American Paper" at the far left. Noted as "Pen Cancelled," as often seen, and with "Repaired Splits and Tears; Stains." The repairs are seen from the back, and this note has a full appearance. This is a very collectible type note from the Revere Copperplate series.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
