    Description

Massachusetts 1779 4s6d Choice Very Fine. This lightly circulated Rising Sun note is an absolutely perfect piece for the grade. It's extremely well printed, boldly signed and beautifully centered on both sides among large, even margins. This Classic Colonial Currency type had its face plate engraved by the famous patriot Paul Revere, and the faces were printed in his shop. The back design shows a cast cut of a pine tree. The backs were printed by Thomas Fleet. We've seen uncirculated examples of this issue that lacked the charm and clarity of this note.
