Description

Rare and Lowest Denomination October 17, 1780 $1/10 Note

State of Maryland October 17, 1780 Small Denomination Act $1/10 Fr. MD-124. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent.
This is a rare and distinctive series of fractional notes printed by Frederick Green, similar in style to the "Black Money" notes, but in a smaller format. These are generally low grade when encountered. Boyd had two damaged notes and two that should be classified as Fine or in that vicinity. His "Fine" $1/10, Lot 8168 in Ford Part XV realized $5,175. This Apparent example has is noted as having "UR Corner Repaired; Design Redrawn; Minor Stains." The appearance is suitable for any collection and despite 45,000 notes authorized, few still exist in any grade.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
