    Maryland Principio Company First Bill of Exchange £35 August 24, 1768 Fine.
    George Washington's father, Augustine Washington Sr., agreed with the Principio Company of England to organize an iron works at Accokeek Creek in Stafford County in 1725. The colony of Maryland had recently passed new laws in order to encourage the early iron industry. This sight bill for the Principio Company grades Fine with edge wear, internal splits, and missing corners. It is signed by Thomas Russell, who was one of the original investors in the company. A truly rare and historical item and the only one of its kind that we have seen.
