Extraordinarily Rare October 17, 1780 Maryland

    Maryland October 17, 1780 $1/6 PCGS Very Fine 20.
An excessively rare issue, and one that we've never handled before. PCGS has not graded any of the four denominations from this issue and we've not had any in any of our sales. This note is a solid VF without a hint of a problem. The entire issue is unpriced in the Friedberg reference and although it is priced in Newman, the prices end at the Fine grade, with all four denominations listed at $5000. In most instances, the Newman book is ahead of the market, but in this instance the reference may be only slightly so.
