Likely Finest Graded 1s/6d May 10, 1781 Maryland "Red Money" Note

Maryland May 10, 1781 1s/6d PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
PCGS has graded only this and one other note neither of which appear in the census as both were graded Apparent. The Apparent grade was assigned to this note for "Repaired Splits; Stains: Minor Mounting Remnants on Back," all of which are accurate but none particularly distracting. These "Red Money" notes are all rare with only a handful at both services for all grades combined. PMG has graded only two of these with a Fine 15 the best of them. This is likely the finest graded in spite of its Apparent designation. It was previously lot 8171 from the Boyd-Ford collection in October 2006 where it realized $2990.
