Description

    Choice March 1, 1770 $2/3 Fractional Note

    Maryland March 1, 1770 $2/3 Fr. MD-54. PCGS About New 58PPQ.
This is a beautifully balanced note from a series of Maryland notes where high-grade examples are nearly impossible to locate. The back imprint is interesting, with the imprint of A.C. and W. GREEN (Anne Catherine and William). Anne Catherine was the widow of Jonas Green, and this is one of the few female imprints known on American paper currency. The fractional denominations from the series are particularly rare in this impressive state of preservation due to receiving tremendous use in commerce. Crisp and attractive, this example has only some faint edge handling. The note is sharply printed, broadly margined for the series and shows a nearly full left end indent design. A choice fractional type note. The finest note from the series we have cataloged and sold.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
