Description

    Maryland June 28, 1780 $5 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
A well margined and well printed note with natural paper surfaces observed through the holder. Pinholes were mentioned by PMG, however the holes do not go all of the way through the note and appear to be natural paper disturbances rather than any type of damage. This note shares the serial number of the $3 listed above and includes the same signatures. A notation on the holder also indicates this piece carries a Scharf provenance. We have only been able to offer one of these $5 notes previously, a PCGS Apparent Choice About New 55 example that sold for $718.75 as part of our sale of the Midnight Ride Collection in September 2009. We expect this much higher grade piece to fare far better.

    Estimate: $2,500 - up.
