    Description

    Maryland June 8, 1780 $1/2 PCGS Very Fine 25.
An extremely rare June 8, 1780 Revolutionary War period Maryland currency issue known as "Black Money." This issue was so named due to its thick dark black printed outer border designs. PCGS notes restorations in the form of a sealed centerfold split. Overall, this note appears well centered on its face. Its back clearly shows all of its typeset border designs being well within very large margins on all sides. Fully signed by Frederick Green and Thomas Johnson, Jr., the signatures are clearly readable in medium brown ink. This historic "Black Money" issue note has superior eye appeal to the Newman plate illustration for this issue. An important Colonial Currency rarity from the state of Maryland that is missing in virtually every collection.
