    The Finest Known "Black Money" Half Dollar Maryland Note

    Maryland June 8, 1780 $1/2 PCGS About New 50.
    One of the rarest of the Revolutionary era Maryland issues. This is the finest known by a huge margin at both grading services combined. PCGS has graded this lovely About New 50 and only two other examples. The other notes have an Apparent grade and therefore they are not listed individually in the PCGS database. PMG has graded two other examples, a VG 8 and a Fine 15. No denomination of this issue is priced in Newman above VF, where all of the denominations are priced at $3,750 each. Friedberg has the entire issue marked as "extremely rare" or "very rare" in all grades, with no values given.
