Perhaps Unique Issued 1751 Maryland "New Bill"

Maryland April 6, 1751 1 Shilling "New Bill" Fr. MD-22. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent.
All issued Maryland notes prior to 1767 are extremely rare. There are remainder notes and sheets known from the 1733 issue, but issued notes are important to collectors in any condition. The original note used a wide format, initially created in 1733. The Maryland coat of arms is at the upper left and obligations are across the note. Handwritten "New Bill" is at top right. The two signatures are complete and clear. This example is missing a section of the left end, which split off, and the note is backed on thin tissue to stabilize the remaining 70%. The apparent notes are "Splits, Tears, and Damage; Missing Pieces; Backed." In traditional grading, the note would be classified Poor to Fair. However, rarity rating is more important in this case, and this is perhaps a unique example of the type.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
