Description

    Georgia October 16, 1786 20s PCGS Very Fine 30.
John E. Smith of Augusta was the printer of this attractive note that was printed on Dutch paper and was the highest denomination for this final Georgia issue. This example measures approximately 3 1/4 inches by 6 1/4 inches and the paper remains bright. Abernethie engraved the interesting vignette that features the 1777 Georgia Constitution along with the PRO BONO PUBLICO (for the public good) design. George Jones, W. Freeman, and W. Steele were the signers of this note. These notes have a value of $2250 in Very Fine according to the most recent edition of the Newman reference. A PMG Very Fine 25 example sold for $1,840 in our Central States Signature Auction last year.
