DescriptionGeorgia May 4, 1778 $20 PCGS Gem New 65PPQ.
Wide margins, bright paper, dark signatures, and bold printing all combine to create fantastic eye appeal on this Georgia $20. These bills of credit were to be paid from the proceeds of Tory estates that were forfeited. The signature of William Few, a signer of the U.S. Constitution nine years later, further adds to the desirability of this piece. This is an example of the (c) variety listed in Newman with the floral ornaments on the outer row of the left border and 17 ornaments to the right of the vertical bar in the bottom row. The notes were printed by W. Lancaster in Savannah. The Latin on the back of this $20, NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSET, translates as "no one will provoke me with impunity."
