    Description

Georgia May 4, 1778 $20 PCGS Apparent About New 50.
A widely margined example with dark text, the signatures also remain dark, including that of signer William Few, a signer of the United States Constitution. The apparent grade was assigned due to toned paper and an edge tear at top left of center. This example is the (c) variety with 17 ornaments to the right of the vertical bar in the bottom border. These bills of credit were to be paid from the proceeds of Tory estates that were forfeited. The notes were printed by W. Lancaster in Savannah. The Latin on the back of this $20, NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSET, translates as "no one will provoke me with impunity."
