Description

Georgia June 8, 1777 $6 PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
A tough variety with the word "in" printed in red on the fourth line. This pleasing example carries serial number 8. The Apparent grade was assigned for "Severed and Repaired; Pieces replaced and Design Redrawn; Small Edge Tears." The seal illustrates a palmetto tree being crushed by a millstone, along with the Latin motto "Oppressa Surgit," which roughly translates to "After being crushed, it rises." All five signatures remain quite bold. The signers were Joseph Wood, Edward Langworthy, Richard Wylly, William O'Bryen, and Nehemiah Wade.

    Estimate: $850 - up.
