Bold 1776 $1 Orange Justice Seal

Georgia 1776 Orange or Green Seal $1 Orange Seal Fr. GA-71c. PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ.
Georgia color seal notes have been popular with collectors since the nineteenth century. They have a unique character, and no other colonial note series combines different denominations, colors and variations into so many interesting permutations. High grade examples are difficult to find and are underrated for many of the types. The 1776 notes were printed with orange or green seals, and this example shows a bold orange Justice seal with border (b). The color is very vibrant. The standard four signatures are seen. The frame is nearly full, wide in several portions, and the note exhibits much natural embossing to the blank back. An excellent type note and representative of all 1776 colored seal notes.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
