1776 Georgia $4 Maroon Seal
Georgia 1776 $4 Maroon Seal Liberty Cap PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.The blue and orange seal varieties of this note are quite common, but not this maroon seal variety as we have now offered at auction a paltry two examples. Newman lists this note at $1,500 in Fine and $3,750 in VF. Friedberg is even higher at $1,750 in Fine and $4,500 for VF25. The Apparent grade has been assigned for edge and internal splits and minor stains. The note is still a beauty as all five bold signatures are legible and the maroon seal is razor sharp down to the smallest detail. This example was acquired in September 1956 from numismatic dealer and author Milford Bolender. Our consignor's white coin envelope for inventory purposes accompanies this highly desirable note as an added bonus.
