Likely Top Pop at PCGS - Scarce High DenominationGeorgia 1776 10s PCGS Apparent Very Fine 30.
This Sterling denomination type is reminiscent of the late 1760s certificates that used black and red mixed typeset. This is border variety (w) as specified by PCGS on the holder (two crossbars style at bottom). The color is rich, and the note is superior to most that we have seen. Noted are "Edge Splits, Tears and Minor Damage; Repairs." This is very collectible, with undamaged notes nearly impossible to obtain. PCGS has graded only 6 and all 6 are Apparents. The most commonly seen note for this issue is the £1, but these 10s notes are quite rare in all grades. In our FUN sale this year, we sold a PCGS Apparent VF 20 for $587.50.
