    Description

    Georgia September 10, 1777 $5 PCGS Extremely Fine 40.
One of the nicest examples we have seen of this denomination and vignette. This Extremely Fine example has an amazingly sharp, deep blue rattlesnake vignette. NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSET, which Newman translates as, "No one will provoke me with impunity," curves above our indigenous viper. Several more modern translations come to mind, but they would be bleeped. The note is simply gorgeous, with the red and black printing, brown signatures and blue seal contrasting beautifully with one another. Newman prices this note at $3,000 in VF, and this spectacular piece could approach that level. PCGS mentioned, "Minor Ink Erosion," which is accurate but trivial.
