    Description

Georgia May 4, 1778 $40 PMG Extremely Fine 40 Net.
A wonderfully attractive note with a boldly printed vignette and a strong cartouche at the left. All five signatures are clear, including that of William Few, who went on to sign the United States Constitution nine years after he signed this note. PMG has assigned the net grade for "Repaired," which refers to three minor splits at the top which are all but invisible. Notes of this issue generally have weakly printed seals, but this note is a happy exception. We sold this example in our 2014 Long Beach Signature Currency Auction for $1527.50.
