    Description

Delaware January 1, 1776 2s/6d PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. This is an appealing, nicely margined 2 shillings, 6 pence note. Adding to the desirability of this note, this is PMG's highest graded example of this Friedberg number with the next highest grade being ten points lower. John McKinly, Thomas Collins, and Boaz Manlove were the signers of this piece. Only 12,000 of these notes were printed. The printer, James Adams, also engraved the cuts for this issue. Irish-born Adams printed the Delaware issues from 1760-77 and until 1775 he was the only printer who settled in Delaware. For seven years prior, he worked in Philadelphia for Benjamin Franklin & David Hall.
