    Description

    Continental Currency May 10, 1775 $20.
Only the all important left half of this rare note is present. What is there grades Fine with edge wear including tears up to a length of approximately 1.25 inches. This marbled-edge piece is unlike any other from the entire series of 102 different Continental notes. Just 11,800 of these $20's were printed individually on weak, thin white paper that was furnished by no other than Benjamin Franklin. The left end of the notes had a polychrome multicolor anticounterfeiting device that gave the notes a distinctly different appearance. This is the half that is in this lot. Also, the back of this rare note is inverted as are all known examples. We had a PMG VG 8 Net with a piece missing from the left edge bring $1035 in January 2008. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
