Continental Currency July 22, 1776 $6 Gem New. A spectacular note, with excellent margins, bold print quality, vivid signatures and tremendous eye appeal. This is one of the scarcest issues of Colonial Currency, particularly in high grade. In our 30+ sales, we've handled only eight uncirculated examples from this issue for all denominations, and this is the first we've ever called Gem. Although the market values of Colonial and Continental notes have risen considerably over the past three years, they remain in our opinion, far underpriced relative to the other areas of the paper-money marketplace. A note like this could take a decade's worth of searching to replace. Yet it will likely realize under $1000.
