    Description

Continental Currency January 14, 1779 $80 PCGS Very Choice New 64PPQ.
A spectacular example of the highest denomination from the last issue of Continental Currency, this note is well printed and well margined on both sides. Both signatures remain bold. The emblem on the face displays great color, with the Latin phrase translating as "and it will flourish for ages and ages." Additionally, the strawberry leaf nature print displays nice detail. PCGS has graded only example higher and PMG only two. The PPQ comment is exactly accurate on this fresh and original piece. We just sold a Newman $80 note, graded PCGS AU 58PPQ, for $1920; this piece is clearly its taskmaster.
