    Description

Continental Currency January 14, 1779 $50 Fr. CC-97 PMG Choice About Uncirculated 58 EPQ.
The final series of Continental Currency was colorful, with red details incorporated into the emblems and the left ends. The pyramid motif at the center of the circular emblem at left has 13 steps, representing each state, and the strength and unity of the country. The motto PERENNIS (Everlasting) curves above, between the inner and outer circle. Parsley is shown on the nature-print back. Very lightly folded, otherwise this well-margined note has the appearance of a higher-grade example. Ex: our 2015 Long Beach sale, lot 22057.
    From The Mike Coltrane Collection.
