Superb Gem 67 EPQ One of a Total of Five for All Continentals at Both Services Combined

Continental Currency February 26, 1777 $6 PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ.
An extraordinary piece, with wonderful colors, excellent centering of both sides among broad margins and tons of eye appeal. The face vignette is unusually sharply printed. It illustrates a beaver gnawing on a tree, and it bears the Latin motto, "Perseverando," which needs no translation. PMG has graded exactly three 67's of Continental Currency. Two of those are $2 January 14, 1779 notes and this is the third. PCGS has graded only two 67 Continentals from this September 26, 1778 issue and two others from the May 9, 1776 issue. With the incredible buying pressure on high end Continentals and with only seven pieces available for all 102 notes combined. We would not be at all surprised to see a realization enter five figures.
