Incredibly Rare Uncut Sheet of All Eight Yorktown Continental Denominations

Continental Currency April 11, 1778 Uncut Half Sheet of Eight PCGS Choice About New 55PPQ.
This sheet has one each of the eight different denominations of April, 11 1778 Yorktown notes. It is the single greatest Continental item that we have ever had the opportunity of offering. While this eight note Yorktown sheet has been graded 55PPQ, there is no doubt that many of these notes would individually grade Choice Uncirculated or better. PCGS has not released a population report of Colonial and Continentals as of yet, but a good indication of the rarity of Yorktown notes in Uncirculated condition can be extrapolated from PMG's data. For the eight different Yorktown denominations, PMG has graded just one Uncirculated example, a $40 in 64 EPQ. In August of 2010, we sold the Patriotic American Collection of Continental Currency. That collection was complete and represented over a quarter of a century of dedicated searching and upgrading by an individual with the budget to acquire the very best. In that time, he obtained two Uncirculated Yorktown notes. An $8 graded 63PPQ and a $30 graded 62PPQ. This sheet is simply amazing with excellent color, bold signatures, and bright red serial numbers. The $40, $5, and $4 appear through the holder to grade Choice AU, with the potential of the other five notes to grade far higher. We are hopeful that this Continental treasure will never be cut, but no potential buyer should avoid the math of the value of the individual notes. As a sheet it is simply irreplaceable, and whether it is acquired for display, for possible future appreciation, or simply for the joy of ownership, it is well worth pursuing to whatever level it takes.
